The William G. Mayne, Jr. Business/Community Enhancement Program was established in 1998 to enhance and enrich the business climate and overall landscape in Niagara County’s communities. The program offers cash grants of up to $5,000 to business associations for the purposes of assisting plans for brick-and-mortar community improvements as well as creating marketing materials such as brochures promoting business districts.
Projects must be cost effective and either physically enhance or promote the community. Grant funds require a dollar-for-dollar cash match (in-kind services will not be considered) and funding cannot be used for administrative costs or rolling stock. The grants must be used for current year projects only.
Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
- Decorative banners
- New Signage
- Landscaping
- Curbside benches
- Curbside planters/hanging flower baskets
- Public parking improvements
- Sidewalk improvements
- Other streetscape improvements
- Promotional brochures/materials
- Digital marketing efforts
Grant applications are made available at the mandatory orientation session held in early March each year. For more information about the program, please contact us at 716-278-8750.
